Stephen relays concerns about IDF “targetting”
Stephen has written to the Defence Secretary, Grant Shapps, querying the practise of “targetting”.
Targeting Officers are required to vet every target prior to each operation. They carry out in-depth, comprehensive research on a potential target, which in turn is passed for verification to a Senior Commander. If approved, the subject can be considered an official target.
Stephen believes it is impossible that Israel is carrying out the required checks on its potential targets. A constituent recently examined publicly available data, and calculated that checks by the IDF need to be made at a rate of four per minute.
In the letter to the Defence Secretary, Stephen suggested this may mean Israel is breaking the laws of armed conflict which can be investigated by the International Criminal Court.
