Stephen demands apology from Home Secretary
Stephen has written to the Home Secretary, Suella Braverman, condemning comments she made describing those taking part in pro-Palestine rallies as “hate marches”.
Braverman’s comments were described as irresponsible and careless by the shadow home secretary, Yvette Cooper, and many and many other charities. The Muslim Council of Britain denounced “…the Islamophobic bigotry that has taken hold in the Conservative Party” after Ms Braverman had previously suggested that merely waving a Palestinian flag could be criminalised.
In his letter, Stephen highlighted the Home Secretary’s comments as “insulting” which will only “…spread more hate and distrust in the coming the months.”
Stephan has asked the Home Secretary whether she plans to apologise. You can read his letter here. The Home Secretary’s reply will be published on the Middle East Hub when it is received.
